Raiyan Mustafa had an Idea! An Idea of doing a blog on
contemporary issues. He wanted it to be his personal blog that will analyze and
critique the current happenings of the time.
The idea appealed to him very much. So, he just directly
jumped into it.
Although he has considerable knowledge of the digital world
and the basics of all the online operations, he never operated his very own
blog before. He knew all the things about website setup, hosting, development
and social media marketing. He knew that you have to advertise your business,
do SEO, do free SEO audit and so on.
So, he thought that he will do all those by himself. “It
will not be of any difficulty if you can advertise your business properly,” he
thought and directly started to concentrate what is the most important aspect
of a blog- the content itself.
He started to brainstorm and came up with a solid list of
topics containing 100 ideas to initially write about. Then, he thought he will
need a team of writers to cover so many topics in a short time.
He hired five great freelance writers and gave them an
orientation on what he wants. Now he just kept providing them with topics and
an outline for each and every article for them to complete. He also wrote some
of the most important and intriguing ones all by himself.
Then finally came the moment of the website launch. He did
all the setups himself along with the help of a web developer friend and
launched the blog with the initial 100 blogs.
It took a long 5 months to do all these! Now all set! He did
some online advertising on the social platforms for the blog too! And gradually
the traffic was rising. But it was not quite the amount Raiyan was originally
expecting. “What could possibly go wrong”, he thought.
Then he realized that although he theoretically knew
everything, due to lack of practical experience of running online operations he
might have missed out something.
Then he did a free SEO audit and found out that although he
did put some keywords into the backend of each and every post, his posts
themselves were not properly optimized for search engines. Then he realized
that duh! He didn’t do proper keyword research before starting to write the
articles and he should have written the articles incorporating the keywords
within the text.
Finally, he realized that it is not enough to know things
theoretically and advertising your business is not the key. You may know web
development, you may know how to advertise your business, you may also know
what free SEO audit is, but you must have an expert with you whenever you are
to do anything online. Otherwise, you are likely to miss out on some essential
yet smaller details that are also key to success in any online enterprise.
